A project that started in Egypt and travelled all the way to Germany.

Karba
Karba means the end part of a palm tree in Arabic! Out of all the projects I’ve worked on, I would be mostly grateful for working on a start-up business that encouraged both; the craftsmanship and eco-friendly products in Egypt. Despite the fact that Egypt is a developing country with poor awareness on the environmental issues, a project based on parts of the palm trees (Karba) which are usually burnt for its unnecessary use there. Karba, an eco-friendly and start-up project that sorts out the karba parts to be used as a decorating piece after taking measurements of it then designing it according to different styles and shapes. A real-life measurement was applied to it then a 3D design was made as a blue-print dimensions for the hand-crafter to draw on it. A process of illustration was applied using Cinema 4D, Photoshop and Illustrator. An accurate measurement of the pieces is required to apply each design on them. Karba project offered creative ideas even when it comes to the flyers. We wanted to offer the customer a real-life experience of how the karba piece was made from the scratch. The flyer which I designed has a QR code of a video of the whole process, mentioning the material used with its sustainability eco-friendly idea and of course, the fact that it was hand-made. I was able to work on the crafting process, designs and the flyers design from the beginning.
